Unfortunately, as I'm sure we all know, fair season has been canceled this year around the Hudson Valley.

The Ulster County and Dutchess County Fair's announced a few weeks ago that they would not be opening their gates this summer due to the Coronavirus pandemic. While it is upsetting, it was expected. I think we can all agree that we would rather keep our neighbors safe above anything else.

With that being said, other fairs across the nation have announced their cancelations as well, but they have an alternative.

When you think of going to the fair, what's the first thing you think of?

I think for a majority of people the answer would be fair food. All those fried food concoctions, kettle corn, lemonade and, specifically from the Dutchess County fair, those delicious 4H milkshakes.

Fair's like The Big E in West Springfield Massachusetts is offering a drive-thru fair food event, according to 22News.

Much like curbside pickup, fairgoers will be able to order from a menu of popular Big E fair food items (for them their staple is The Big E Cream Puffs and Big Eclairs) from their car and pick up their items at the vendor's station.

I think it's a great idea for Hudson Valley fairs to think about. Our local businesses can still sell their popular items and make some money during these unprecedented times and we could still get a version of fair season that we're all craving so bad.

Would you visit a Drive-Thru Hudson Valley Food Fair? What foods would you go out of your way to get? Let us know on Facebook and who knows, maybe we'll see a drive-thru fair at some point this summer.
