If your school does have remote learning, do you think the school should enforce some sort of dress code?

As we move through the month of August, one of the big things most parents have been worried about is the reopening of schools here in the Hudson Valley. We learned last week that Governor Cuomo said that schools in the state of New York can reopen for in-person classes with a few guidelines that need to be followed including posting online the schools plan and meetings between parents and schools.

As far as some schools in the Hudson Valley go, most have started to make their plans public, with some are exploring options that will include some in-person classes and some remote learning classes.

If your school does have remote learning, would you be for or against some sort of dress code that students need to follow while in class from home? One school in Illinois has announced that they are going to have a dress code and will not allow students to wear pajamas during online classes according to WCIA.

The dress code is from the Springfield School District, and it states that kids are not allowed to wear pajamas while doing classes online at home, and that has some parents upset, with some saying that the school is overstepping by telling them what their children can and cant wear while learning from home.

One parent said, " “I made the decision for my kids to be at home and I don’t really see how any district can come in and say what my kid can’t wear in my house. I don’t think they have any right to say what happens in my house. I think they have enough to worry about as opposed to what the kids are wearing. They need to make sure they’re getting educated.”

Other parents are in support of the dress code, with one saying, " “It makes sense, it’s just a little bit of respect to show up clean and ready for class.”
