Runaway June are getting into the Christmas spirit with a vibrant cover of "Sleigh Ride." The country trio bring cheerful vocals to the classic Christmas song, with Naomi Cooke taking lead while cohorts Jennifer Wayne and Hannah Mulholland provide charming harmonies.

Fellow country star Amy Grant took on the song in 1983, and the three contemporary singers match her energy and enthusiasm in their own interpretation. The trio create a distinct sound with their rendition, incorporating hints of steel guitar that give it a Hawaiian feel, along with clap machines that add a jovial spirit.

"Outside the snow is falling / And friends are calling you hoo / C'mon it's lovely weather / For a sleigh ride together with you," the trio sing over the perky melody.

If You Loved That, You'll Die for Brett Young's "Hallelujah" Cover, Too

Originally composed by LeRoy Anderson in 1948, "Sleigh Ride" is one of the most popular holiday songs, with acts ranging from the Ronettes to TLC and Fun recording versions of it.

Runaway June say it's one of their favorites.

"It's totally new for us," Cooke tells U.K.-based blog Your Life in a Song about recording the Christmas track. "That one was so fun to record. We wanted to do something that people don't normally record because a lot of people do the same songs and our favorites are the really old traditional Christmas songs."

Runaway June released their latest single "Buy My Own Drinks" off their self-titled EP in 2018. They're set to hit the road with Carrie Underwood as one of her opening acts on the 2019 Cry Pretty Tour 360.
