Rory Feek and his family have been rocked by tragedy yet again with the death of 9-year-old Scout McCauley, a dear friend of Rory and the late Joey Feek's young daughter, Indiana.

"Our family and community is broken hearted over the sudden loss this weekend of nine-year-old Scout McCauley, who is Indiana's first best friend and a special part of our life and story," Rory explains on his Facebook page.

"She taught Indy (and all of us) how to 'sign', how to live, and even more so... how to be brave in the face of adversity. We miss you already Scouty," he adds."

According to a GoFundMe page set up by McCauley's family, the little girl died on Saturday (Jan. 5). She lived with "a rare condition called Loeys-Dietz Syndrome that affects connective tissue throughout her body," a description states.

"In just 9 short years, Scout left a significant impact on all of the lives she touched," the family writes. "All those that knew her, loved her and could all tell special stories of time spent with her."

Rory's older daughter, Heidi, also shared her heartfelt thoughts regarding the passing of McCauley on her Instagram page:

"I am beyond devastated, as is everyone who knew her. I am not religious, but I do believe she was an angel on this earth. I am so thankful for all of the memories I have with her, and will carry them with me my whole life."

The Feek family lost their matriarch and Joey + Rory member Joey Feek in early 2016 after a battle with cancer.
