With Veteran's Day coming up this week, the timing of this new music video couldn't be better.

The music video was shot in Redding's Putnam Memorial Park, sometimes referred to as Connecticut's Valley Forge because of the winter the troops spent there during the Revolutionary War in 1778 and 1779. The music video is centered around a Colonial soldier serving in General Isreal Putnam's division of the Continental Army during their stay in Redding.

The song titled "Winter With Old Put" is the product of singer songwriter Glenn Hall who hails from Georgia but actually grew up in Bethel, Connecticut. When he was younger, he spent a lot of time at Putnam Park and developed a fascination with the era and the early American heroes who had an encampment there.

General Isreal Putnam was a massive historical figure, just look at the towns and areas of Connecticut and the Hudson Valley that to this day bear his name. According to supernews.to, outside of the Connecticut and Hudson Valley area, General Putnam has never gotten the recognition of some of his other Revolutionary War contemporaries like Washington, Jefferson, Paul Revere, and Benjamin Franklin. This bothered the singer/songwriter, especially since he had such close ties to Putnam Memorial Park growing up, and decided to not only write a song about the General, but shoot the music video for it right in the park he remembers so well.

The song is now featured on Hall's new album called "Clouds Turn Black", and in the video for it his singing is intercut with battle scenes that were recreated by Revolutionary War reenactment actors.

The song will be released this Thursday, (Veterans Day) on all the major music services. Hall hopes people will get a better understanding of the General, and what the men endured during the winter they spent in Redding.

Hall hopes the interest in Major General Putnam doesn't just stop with the music video, he's hoping somebody makes a movie about him as well because his life was that extraordinary.

If you're familiar with Putnam Memorial Park, you'll enjoy seeing some of the scenes from this music video.
