New York Heats Up, Hudson Valley Breaks 40 Year Temperature Record
New Yorkers have been sweating it out the last few weeks across the state and we're breaking records.
Trick-or-Heat! It was a Hot Halloween in New York
One of the biggest problems when I was Trick-or-Treating as a kid back in the 90s, was the cold weather. Having to wear a sweatshirt until my cute Vampire costume really ruined the vibe.

Kids in 2024, had to worry about the opposite. Parts of New York reached 80F on Halloween! Trick-or-Treaters broke a sweat this year carrying their candy haul.
According to Extreme Weather Watch, the hottest Halloween on record in Poughkeepsie was back in 1946 clocking in at 78F. That was dethroned by the 2024 record of 82F.
High Temps Brea Records Across New York for November
The National Weather Service in Albany shared an record breaking update on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 at 4:41pm.
According to the National Weather Service, Poughkeepsie New York set a record high temperature at 81F degrees. They write:
This breaks the old record of 77° set in 2015. This is also the latest 80° temperature on record, breaking the old record of November 2nd set in 1982 and 1950.
Heat records continued to break across New York City. ABC 7NY is reporting that on Wednesday November 6th, 2024 Central Park reached a balmy 80F.
This November heat beat the record for NYC that was set 2 years ago at 75F. The last time Central Park hit 80 degrees in November was in 1993.
Warm, Dry Hudson Valley Weather Brings Drought Conditions
You don't need us to tell you it's been a dry couple of months throughout the Hudson Valley.
These dry conditions have led to serious brush fires across the area, with many Towns and Counties implementing Burn Bans.

Earlier this week, The National Weather Service shared that NY hasn't seen significant rainfall and wont see it for at least another week. They write "Most of eastern NY & western New England has endured a prolonged dry pattern through Sept and Oct with no significant rain in sight through at least the next week."
