Recognition Day Will be Observed in Sullivan County
On September 15th we honor those Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action.
POW/MIA Day will be observed this year in Monticello. Thanks to the Sullivan County Veteran Service Agency, on September 15th starting at 1pm there will be a gathering to honor POW/MIA.
According to a press release the event will be held in the lobby of the Sullivan County Government Center at 100 North Street.
Recognition Day is "filled with important symbolism" and will be lead by Keynote Speaker John McCloud. McCloud is a Hudson Valley native, living in Goshen, and a retired Air Force Captain. He served on two different aircraft carries, first as an Air Traffic Controller Second Class Petty Officer and then rounding out his career as a Aerial Porter Technical Sergeant and nurse at Stewart Air National Guard base in Newburgh.
McCloud is still helping his fellow veterans today, he is serving as a primary care nurse at the VA clinic in Monticello.
The Sullivan County Veteran Service invited the public to attend this event to remember those who were prisoners of war and who remain missing in action, as well as their families.
