The Newest Dispensary on The Scene: Dutchess Roots in Poughkeepsie

If you haven't heard, the Town of Poughkeepsie is getting it's first dispensary. It's a local women owned and woman run dispensary. Lisa Sweeney left her job in the healthcare field to dive right in to the world of dispensaries.

With Dutchess Roots, Sweeney and her husband Scott aim to "elevate customers' experience through approachable products, personalized service and comprehensive education."

In a press release Sweeney said “With Dutchess Roots, we’re planting something meaningful in our own backyard."

Sweeney adds:

“Our intention is to not only to create an outstanding experience for our customers, but to grow meaningful roots right here in the Town of Poughkeepsie, where we live. We are committed to giving back and supporting our community whenever possible.”

Dutchess Roots will team up with Dutchess Community College for a scholarship for future cannabis industry leaders.

When Will Dutchess Roots Open in Poughkeepsie?

While there is no official opening date published, it looks like things are moving fast.

Dutchess Roots is located at 2615 South Road in Poughkeepsie right behind Jersey Mikes and Smoothie King in the South Road Crossing Plaza. That area has been building up over the last few years and will continue to do so.

Dutchess Roots will be opening soon at some point in the Spring of 2025. They'll also be neighbors to the new Crumbl cookie location.

If you ask me a dispensary and a cookie shop right next to each other sounds kind of perfect.
