A 44-year-old man from Dutchess County has been arrested after police say he digitally altered a picture of a State Trooper and accused him of awful crimes.

The New York State police have announced the arrest of a 44-year-old Red Hook, NY man after they say he falsely reported an incident involving a state trooper.

Man Allegedly Altered Picture of New York State Trooper

According to a New York State Police (NYSP) press release, 44-year-old Daniel R. Anderson, of Red Hook, NY, has been arrested after an investigation revealed that he digitally altered a picture taken from a video that he previously recorded.

The investigation, which was conducted by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Rhinebeck (BCI), determined that Anderson began to film a New York State Trooper while they attempted to interview him at his residence regarding an unrelated incident.

Facebook Post Causes "Public Alarm" in Dutchess County, NY

Police said that Anderson, who was yelling at the trooper to leave his property, took a still image from the video and digitally altered it to conceal the Trooper’s uniform. He proceeded to post it in a local community Facebook group with a caption that accused the trooper of perversion and voyeurism.

"The post caused public alarm and inconvenience to the Trooper and the Trooper’s family," said the NYSP press release.

Police didn't identify the trooper involved, but did say that Anderson was charged with falsely reporting an incident, a class A misdemeanor. He was taken into custody on an arrest warrant issued by the Town of Red Hook Court and was later released.

He was issued an appearance ticket that is returnable to the Town of Red Hook Court on March 26th, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
