A 16-year-old juvenile from Danbury has officially been charged with the shooting at Chili's in Danbury.

The incident occurred on March 5 outside of the Chili's on Newtown Road in Danbury when two groups started to rumble inside the restaurant. According to Danbury Police, the fight moved outside and that's when one person drew a gun and started to fire shots.

Fortunately no one was injured, but it led Danbury Police on a manhunt to find the suspect, or suspects involved.

According to the Danbury Police Facebook page, the investigation was turned over to the General Investigations Division of the Detective Bureau. They interviewed witnesses, recovered physical evidence, and took anonymous tips as part of their investigation. From all this information, they were able determine that a 16-year-old resident of Danbury was not only involved, but was the person responsible for firing the gun.

Last Thursday (March 10), police issued a warrant for the arrest of this individual by a Danbury Superior Court Judge, and the next day, (March 11), the suspect was apprehended by detectives at his Danbury residence and was taken into custody.

The 16-year-old was booked in Danbury and charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Assault in the 1st Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree, Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree (2 Counts), Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, and Threatening in the 2nd Degree. Then the suspect was sent to Bridgeport Juvenile Corrections Facility where he remains in custody.

Police have not yet wrapped up this investigation, and they believe there will be more arrests still to come. Therefore, Danbury Police are still asking the public for help in this incident.
