There will be something interesting going on in the sky this weekend. Are you ready for the Planet Parade!?

What Is a Planet Parade?

While a parade in the streets with people dressed up as planets sounds like a fun idea, maybe for Earth Day, that's not what a planet parade is.

According to Discovery Magazine a Planet Parade is when "the seven planets joining Earth in our solar system will be visible all at once in the night sky." The planets are arranged in what they call "an extraordinary pattern called a “great planetary alignment."

Also known as a Planet Parade.

When Can You See the Planet Parade in the Hudson Valley?

Saturn, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Uranus, and Neptune will line up for the Planet Parade on January 17th and 18th according to Space.com.

If you're unable to catch the planetary alignment this month, have no fear! Discovery Magazine reports there will be an opportunity again to see the Planet Parade February 28th.

Forecast For The Planet Parade in The Hudson Valley

Will we be able to see the Planet Parade across the Hudson Valley? As we mentioned earlier the Planet Parade will be visible January 17th and 18th, but will winter weather get in the way?

The best chance to see the Planet Parade is on Friday, January 17th. According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website, it will be partly cloudy at night to catch a glimpse of the Planet Parade.

Unfortunately, there is a bit of snow and rain in the forecast for Saturday night January, 18th. But who knows, it may pass so keep your eyes toward the skies!
