If you have shopped at Aldi locations around the Hudson Valley you may want to double-check your latest purchases.

ABC7 NY is reporting that peaches sold in Aldi locations in New York and Connecticut have been recalled.

According to the recall from the Center for Disease Control, the "U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections." The recall explains that the Wawona-brand bagged peaches sold at Aldi are the specific product being investigated.

Wawona-brand bagged peaches that were sold June 1st, 2020 to the present time should not be eaten. The recalled peaches were sold at 15 locations, including Aldi locations in New York.

If you have purchased Wawona bagged peaches, the CDC asks that you throw them away immediately and to sanitize the area in which the peaches were being stored.

The CDC reports that illnesses started on June 29th, 2020 with the latest being reporting on August 3rd.

Symptoms of Salmonella occur between 1 and 3 days after the consumption of the bacteria. These symptoms include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps. While most cases go away within 4 to 7 days, Salmonella bacteria may find its way to the bloodstream which could lead to "more severe diarrhea which can lead to hospitalization. Severe cases can be deadly if not treated promptly with antibiotics" according to the CDC.

At the beginning of August, there were over 600 Salmonella cases reported in 10 states, including Connecticut and New Jersey, that were linked back to red onions.
