Over 50 Animals Rescued In Dutchess County This Weekend
The Dutchess County SPCA works tirelessly to care for homeless pets until they are adopted. Sometimes it takes a while and sometimes the number of animals that need homes outnumber the rooms available in the building. Such is the case in the summer months when the numbers drastically increase and over crowding becomes an issue.
The photos show just a few of the pets that found new families this weekend. It looks like everyone was all smiles, pets and humans alike!
The FREE ADOPTION weekend waived all adoption fees for animals over 7 months old. That inspired a lot of would be adopters to become rescuers of these beautiful animals. Some local residents still adopted the puppies and kittens too! Overall, the weekend yielded 58 adoptions! Way to go Dutchess County SPCA!
While they may enjoy a successful weekend, the celebration is always short. This cleared up a lot of much needed space in the shelter for more animals to be cared for while they wait their new families. Thank you to all of the Hudson Valley residents that stepped up in times of need and saved an animal's life. And a special thanks to The DCSPA, to all of it's staff and all of their volunteers. Because of you, these animals have homes.
