
Where Can You Find New York’s Tallest Traveling Carnival Ride
If you have been driving the back roads in Ulster County near New Paltz over the last few days, you probably noticed all of the carnival rides heading to the Ulster County Fairgrounds on Libertyville Road. Yes, it is Ulster County Fair week now through Sunday, August 3rd, 2025.
Ulster County Fair Returns to New Paltz, New York
The Ulster County Fair is a summer family tradition for many in the Hudson Valley. Celebrating 137 years of tradition, families look forward to it all year long. The Ulster County Fair showcases some of the best the area has to offer while bringing family fun entertainment.

4-H exhibits, games, food, and live entertainment are all part of what fairgoers can expect, and this year, the fair is featuring a ride that you can't miss unless you have a problem with heights. You may have already seen it over the weekend, towering over the fairgrounds, New York State's Largest Traveling Ferris Wheel.

Soar 110 feet above the Ulster County Fairgrounds on New York State’s largest traveling Ferris wheel! With 24 family-sized gondolas (seating up to 6 each) and over 25,000 LED lights, The Wheel delivers a stunning bird’s-eye view of the midway, mountains, and magic all around. I stopped out to see it for myself; trust me, the pictures don't do it justice; it is really tall. I can't wait to see the view from the top.

The $15 fair admission this year includes parking, fair admission, and all the JSP Home Services Stage entertainment, along with other fair shows such as fireworks on Wednesday and the Truck Pull on Thursday. See the complete schedule at ulstercountyfair.com.
