Have you noticed that there are more of these digital speed limit signs on roads in the Hudson Valley?
Most drivers who drive the same route day after day in the Hudson Valley are well aware that when something new is installed on a road they drive on, they will eventually notice it. It might not happen right away, but sooner or later, most drivers will recognize something new.
That's what happened to me the other day while I was driving to work through the Town of Poughkeepsie, NY.
New Speed Limit Sign in Poughkeepsie, New York
As I was traveling west on Hooker Ave towards the Mid-Hudson Bridge the other day, I noticed that a new digital speed limit sign had been put in place. The sign was placed about half way up a light pole near the corner of Park Ave and Hooker Ave in Poughkeepsie and as I drove past it the sign began to display how fast I was going.
Yes, I have seen signs like these before, but over the last few weeks, I've noticed that there seems to be more and more of them being put in place across the Hudson Valley.

Signs similar to the new one on Hooker Ave. are put in put in place on select roads to inform divers how fast they're driving and in doing so they encourage drivers to reduce their speed and improve traffic flow and safety.
It's unclear if signs like this work or not, but after noticing it for the first time this week, I will admit I slowed down until the sign stopped telling me I was "driving too fast"! So I guess it's effective....LOL.
