
Boil Water Notice For Popular Destination In New York

The Village of New Paltz is notifying residents and businesses who are on municipal water that they need to boil water before use for the next five days.
Boil Water Notice Issued for the Entire Village of New Paltz
At around 8 PM Friday, the Village of New Paltz posted on its Facebook page that there is a problem with the water in the Village of New Paltz, and that the Ulster County Department of Health has issued a Boil Water Notice. A routine test for coliform bacteria in the water showed elevated levels.

Residents and businesses are being asked to boil water or use bottled water for the next 5 days while the water mains in the area are flushed. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking water, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, or preparing food for the next five days.
High Levels of Coliform Bacteria Found in Village of New Paltz Water
Coliform Bacteria, according to the Boil Water Notice, are naturally occurring, and they test for them regularly. Its presence can be an indicator that potentially harmful microbes are present.
The Boil Water Notice also included that harmful microbes can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or many other symptoms. They can lead to more issues for infants, the elderly, and people with compromised immune systems.
