We have more details behind the abrupt closure of Roller Magic in Hyde Park, NY.

Earlier this week, we learned that Roller Magic in Hyde Park, New York, had closed its doors with no warning. The roller skating rink located on Route 9 at 4178 Albany Post Road, in Hyde Park, announced on Friday that they are closed to the public, "effective immediately".

The post didn't explain why it simply stated,

"Hello everyone, we would just like to announce to everybody that, effective immediately, we are closed to the public. Any plans to reopen will be announced here."

Soon after they announced they were closed, we reached out to the skating rink through Facebook to see if they could share why.

Why Did Roller Magic Close?

The folks at Hyde Park Roller Magic contacted us late Sunday night to share the reason behind their closure. They told us through Facebook that the roller skating rink has been sold to new owners, saying,

"Hyde Park Rollermagic has new ownership after nearly 8 years! The new owner is a successful and respected local businessman who has already generated considerable interest in the property."

The message didn't say reveal the owner by name or say if the roller rink would reopen soon or not, but did say the new owner is "open to various possibilities, including bringing in a new operator to run the roller rink".
