New Hudson Valley Museum Opening This Summer
A new museum will be opening its doors this summer offering Hudson Valley residents and tourists alike a new place to enjoy some culture locally. The Art Newspaper reports the 20,000 square foot facility will be located in Cold Spring and will begin hosting its first show on June 28.
Called Magazzino, the building was remodeled by architect Miguel Quismodo and, according to their website, will house works devoted to postwar and contemporary Italian art. Works from the personal collection of Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu will be on display. Bloomberg puts their collection at more than 400 pieces, and possibly worth millions.
The new museum is within 10 miles of Dia:Beacon and is just across the river from Storm King Arts Center providing those searching out the arts another quality option.
Magazzino will feature free admission, but there's a catch: You can only visit by appointment. For more information, you can sign up for their mailing list at www.magazzino.org.
