A dog food product sold nationwide is being recalled due to a potential health risk.

According to WTEN, the Blue Buffalo Company have decided to voluntarily recall some of its BLUE Wilderness Rocky Mountain Recipe Red Meat Dinner Wet Food for Adult Dogs.

The recalled pet food could have elevated levels of beef thyroid hormones which if a dog eats, could cause weight loss, increase heart rate, restlessness and increased thirst and urination in dogs.

If a pet eats food that has beef thyroid hormones in it for a long period of time they will have serious side effect like vomiting, diarrhea and rapid or difficult breathing.

The affected dog foods have the UPC code 840243101153 and a best by date of June 7, 2019.

Once you check your pet food, if you find that you have the affected product you should stop feeding it to your pet and contact your veterinarian.
