Popular Beacon, NY Bar Closing Up Shop After 18 Years
When you think of Beacon, New York you probably think of The Dummy Light, Mount Beacon, and everyone's favorite bar, Max's on Main.
The popular bar has been in service for almost 20 years, however, we learned this week that the Main Street staple is closing its doors.
End of an Era: Max's on Main Closing in Beacon, NY
The Beacon, New York Facebook group was abuzz on Thursday, April 4th, 2024 after a statement was shared regarding the future of Max's on Main. In the post, Sarah Rose writes "Yes, the rumors are true. The end of an era"
She goes on to explain that her father-in-law, and owner of Max's on Main, Richie Kaplan "is ready to enjoy retirement. Sarah Rose adds that Richie's son, Jesse Kaplan who also happens to be her husband is "ready for a new adventure."
The post goes on to explain just how Max's was a "cornerstone of Beacon" serving amazing comfort foods and being there for customers during the happiest and hardest days of their lives.
Our slogan- Meet Me at Max’s- has brought together countless tables of friends, family, and community members over these years. Hell, I met my husband at table 2! Seven days a week, even in the midst of a global pandemic, we were there for you. And you were there for us. We thank you for your patronage. It has been our absolute pleasure to serve you.
18 years ago, Richie and his brother Harvey opened up Max's on Main, which they named after their father.
Max's on Main To Close in April 2024
With that, we learned that Max's will close for good and serve their last patrons on Sunday, April 24th, 2024. The staff at Max's are inviting everyone to stop by for one last "classic Max’s burger, a hot plate of pierogies, or a cold cocktail and a good conversation."
The Kaplan family is also asking for customers to share their favorite photos and memories of Max's on Main. Head on over to the Max's on Main Facebook page to share your favorite memories.
On a personal note, I celebrated many life events at Max's, as well as butchering many karaoke songs. It was my go-to bar when a friend asked where to get a drink in Beacon. It felt like home.
Cheers to the Kaplan family and all their future endeavors.
