SUNY New Paltz Alum About to Set World Record
We have all heard of the Guinness Book of World Records. Growing up I was fascinated by the things and feats the Guinness Book published.
It always seemed as though anything that was a world record holder was hard to achieve, hence why not everyone can be in the book. Intrigued as a child, I will be honest, I never gave it much thought as an adult, which may be why I didn't realize the type of world records they are keeping track of these days.
SUNY New Paltz Alum Up for Guinness Book of World Records
If you spend time on the Facebook page for #guinessworldrecords, you will see things like the world record for eating the most ghost peppers in two minutes, the world's oldest bar, and even the most people on a single bed. Soon, you may see one of the Alumni from SUNY New Paltz.
This week, New Paltz, the Alumni Magazine, shared the story of an alumnus who has as many as three Guinness Book of World Record Titles. Martha Strever, from the class of 61 and the Graduate School class of 66, is currently in the running for three Guinness World Records.
According to the post that SUNY New Paltz shared on Facebook earlier this week Martha may walk away with three separate titles all because of her love of teaching Math.

Martha Strever has been an educator for 64 years and probably never imagined that her love for teaching would lead to a world record. According to New Paltz The Alumni Magazine Martha also can claim to be the longest-active teacher in New York and being the longest-active member of New York State United Teachers.
