Ryan Hurd and Maren Morris announced their engagement in July and the country power couple are over the moon about getting married. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight before the 2017 ACM Honors in Nashville this month, the couple continued to gush about the magical proposal.

“Oh, I sobbed. I mean it was so emotional and so perfect,” Morris tells ET. “He’s a very thoughtful human being, and I feel like the proposal was just as thoughtful as he always is. So it was perfect.”

Hurd didn't simply pick a ring from a display cabinet — he knew he had to find something which would fit the "My Church" singer perfectly. So he designed one.

“I know what she likes and I had somebody in Canada put it together. The stone is from New York City, it’s from an uncut diamond, and then the rest of it’s cast just custom for her,” Hurd shares. “I couldn’t just buy something. I had to make it something that fit her.”

While Morris confesses that the couple are moving at a “glacial pace” in planning the wedding, she hints that they are nearing a date in the spring. “I think we’re kind of honing in on the springtime, before we kick off our tours again,” she says.

Longtime friends and co-writers, Morris' and Hurd's romance began in December 2015. The couple met in 2013 when they were paired up for a writing session after Morris moved to Nashville. They announced their engagement via Instagram in early July, sharing a photo of Morris seated on Hurd's lap with her ring as the (sparkling) focus and a simple "Yes." as the caption.
