Local Agencies Come Together and Make-A-Wish Come True For 5-Year-Old in Chester, New York

What Happened at The Chester, New York ShopRite?

Over the weekend, members of the Chester New York community were concerned when they saw several fire trucks and police cars outside of their local ShopRite store.

Many wondered if there was an emergency, however there was something pretty special going on inside.

Wishes were being granted.

Local Agencies Make Dreams Come True in Orange County, New York

On Sunday, March 29th 2025, local agencies were seen with their sirens on outside the ShopRite in Chester, New York.

Fire fighters, police officers, students, teachers, and members of the community were all lining the entrance and making way for 5-year-old Lilly Fernandez. The Sugar Loaf Fire Department explains that Lilly is currently battling  acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Lilly is apparently a big fan of first responders!

And they all showed up for her. According to the Sugar Loaf Fire District, he Chester Fire Department along with the Town and Village of Chester Police Departments, Goshen Fire Department, Town and Village of Goshen Police Departments, Town of Warwick Police Department, NYS Troopers, MTA Police and other local agencies were all on hand to welcome Lilly to her big Make-A-Wish day.

Chester, New York 5 Year Old Gets Amazing Gift from Make-A-Wish

After Lilly was greeted by all of the first responders and local agencies in the Chester region, we learned she also would be granted another part of her Make-A-Wish.

According to New York State Assemblyman Brian Mahar, Lilly and her family are heading to Walt Disney World!

ShopRite in Chester raised the funds for Lilly and her family to head down to the most magical place on earth.
