Hudson Valley drivers were shocked when they noticed this major change on the Palisades Interstate Parkway.

Following the news, readers informed Hudson Valley Post about a speed-limit change on the Palisades Interstate Parkway.

Recently, drivers noticed signs informing them that the section of the highway with a 50 MPH speed limit increased to 55 mph.

If you regularly drive on the Palisades you know the speed limit dips from 55 MPH to 50 MPH in Rockland County, past the exit for the New York State Thruway. This slows down your drive and if you forget about the speed change, increases your chance of receiving a speeding ticket.

Hudson Valley Post did some investigating and turns out the speed limit change is real and is here to stay.

On Oct. 1, the Palisades Interstate Park Commission raised the speed limit in the area past the exit for I-87/I-287 from 50 MPH to 55 MPH.

The speed limit change was buried in a Rules and Regulations statement released by the Palisades Interstate Park Commission.
