It has to be pretty bad for you to commit a crime in church.

According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, Katherine Hernandez was at Sunday mass at St. Stanislaus Church on Main st in Pleasant Valley when the alleged crime took place.

Police told the Journal that Hernandez allegedly stole the purse when a woman went to receive Holy Communion. When she returned to her pew, she noticed that her handbag had been stolen.

After police investigated the crime they arrested Hernandez in Pleasant Valley on Saturday and charged her with grand larceny, a felony. She was arraigned and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
