It is officially beach weather. Kids are getting out of school and vacations are being planned. One of the most popular family vacations is a trip to the beach. Weather you are heading to Wildwood or Atlantis the family beach vacation is always an adventure.

Coolers and boogie boards, beach umbrellas and sun screen all packed, now all you need is to pick a beach. That can be the hard part unless your family has a tradition of going to the beach each summer. Here are some ideas from the Travel Channel Top 10 American Beaches.

Keep in mind though that the Travel channel list maybe incomplete. After all it doesn't include a beach I just discovered on a recent drive to Boston. I knew that there was a National Seashore on Cape Cod, but I didn't ever give a thought to where America's first public beach might be located. Turns out it is in Revere Massachusetts and it didn't make the list but it is definitely worth the trip.

America's first Public Beach Revere Beach was established in 1896, is just 5 miles from Boston and faces the Massachusetts Bay. It's gentle sloping sand makes for a great bathing beach and sure to be fun for all ages.

So pack the kids in the car and get ready to gather shells and souvenirs. It is going to be a great summer for the beach.

Oh and here's a little Kenny Chesney for those "Summer Beach" romances.
