Largest Drug Bust in Walden History Leads to Jail Time

After the largest drug bust in Walden history, an alleged Hudson Valley drug dealer is heading to prison.

On Monday in Orange County Court, 38-year-old Terrance Burton of New Windsor was sentenced to nine years in State Prison and five years post-release supervision for possessing over eight ounces of cocaine.

On February 22 and February 23, 2017, Village of Walden Police intercepted two packages containing narcotics intended for Terrance Burton as part of an ongoing investigation.

The narcotics recovered totaled four kilograms, the largest amount ever seized in the Village of Walden, officials say.

After the initial arrests in the case, the investigation continued with the aid of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. The matter was submitted to a grand jury which charged Terrance Burton with crimes including conspiracy and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The indictment alleged that Burton was engaged in a conspiracy to possess and sell cocaine and heroin.

On April 30, pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance. He confessed that he possessed over eight ounces of cocaine at an East Main Street home in Walden.

“This case demonstrates that no community is insulated from the narcotics that continue to ravage the lives of too many of our residents,” Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said. “I commend the Village of Walden Police Department for their investigation."
