Small Fires Allegedly Set Around Kerhonkson Elementary School
Earlier this week, the Ulster County Sheriff's Office shared an unsettling incident at Kerhonkson Elementary School.
According to the press release, the Ulster County Sheriff's Office is investigating what appears to be "the remnants of several small fires located on the grounds of the Kerhonkson Elementary School in Kerhonkson."
On Monday, January 13th, 2025, students were released early as a precaution. While there is an ongoing investigation the Ulster County Sheriff's Office explains there is "no reason to believe there are any further safety concerts to student or staff."
They also believe this an isolated incident and happened at some point over the weekend.
As mentioned earlier, this is an ongoing investigation, and the Ulster County Sheriff's Office is working with other agencies such as the NYS Police, Ulster County Department of Emergency Services and the Orange County Hudson Valley Arson Task Force.
The Ulster County Sheriff's Office asks if anyone witnessed suspicious behavior around the area of Kerhonkson Elementary School to call the Tip Line at (845) 340-3599.
