Kane Brown Wasn’t Kidding About that Marshmello Collaboration — It’s Coming in 2019
If you thought Kane Brown was joking about a Marshmello collaboration -- well, he wasn't. After Brown hinted at the 2018 American Music Awards that something could be in the works between the two, the country singer and the EDM artist confirmed their collab on Twitter.
On Thanksgiving (Nov. 22), Marshmello tweeted out that he was thankful that he had a song with Brown coming out "next year." The singer replied to the tweet, saying, "It's a jam ... Only listened to to like 600 times."
"It's to [sic] real," Brown adds. "It's gonna get to [sic] many people in their feelings."
Brown first sparked speculation about the collaboration between Marshmello and himself while walking the red carpet at the 2018 American Music Awards in early October. At the time, Brown revealed to Billboard that he was working on a project with a non-country artist.
"I wouldn’t say it’s like the Chainsmokers, but it is," he said, referring to the popular pop / EDM duo who recently collaborated with Kelsea Ballerini. When the interviewer named Marshmello as the mystery person, Brown smiled and said, "Maybe. That'd be cool."
Brown recently released his sophomore album, Experiment, on Nov. 9. The record debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, making him one of only three country artists to top that chart in 2018 (the other two were Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean). Brown's the first male country artist to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with a sophomore album since 1994, when Tim McGraw's Not a Moment Too Soon topped the chart.
