When Is Spring Turkey Hunting Season in New York?

If you're not a seasoned hunter, then you probably didn't know there is a spring turkey hunting season.

I, personally, am not a turkey hunter so I had no idea. However, if you need more details it looks like spring turkey hunting starts on May 1st, 2026 and runs through May 31st, 2026.

Across New York State hunters are allowed to take 2 bearded birds for the season (unless you're hunting on Long Island, where hunters can take 1).

Shooting hours are 1/2 hour before sunrise until 12pm.

Now that the important information is out of the way...

Country Singer Heads to Upstate, New York To Hunt Turkey

While scrolling social media recently I came across a photo of country singer Jordan Davis.

Davis is known for hits like "Next Thing You Know," "Buy Dirt," "Singles You Up" and more. He's worked with some of the biggest names in country music like Thomas Rhett, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan.

He also happens to be an avid hunter, sharing photos and videos of his hunting adventures across the U.S.

Davis' latest stop was in Upstate, New York, at least that's according to his most recent Instagram post.

In the Instagram post Davis writes:

Hell of start to chasing turkeys in New York.

Where Did Jordan Davis Hunt Turkey's in New York?

As we looked through Jordan's photos we noticed the name Basswood Lodge mentioned a few times, so we decided to do some digging.

Basswood Lodge is located in St. Lawrence County in Rensselaer Falls and, according to their website, they are "Home to one of the best managed waterfowl properties that exists in the Atlantic Flyway."

The first link that pops up for their website is information regarding Spring Turkey.

On Instagram, Jordan tagged and shared a beautiful sunset at Basswood Lodge (which they shared on their story as well).

Looks like we got our answers. Jordan Davis did his spring turkey hunting with the team at Basswood Lodge. Will more country stars make their way Upstate?
