One of the last things I did before quarantine struck the Hudson Valley (and the world, obviously) back in March was visit Paige and the team at Boutique Wine, Spirits and Ciders in Fishkill. It was the last installment of One Sip Cider... until now.

Paige and myself reunited right in time for back to school and apple picking season in the Hudson Valley.

This time around Paige introduced me to two local hard ciders that also offer up much more than delicious beverages. Orchard Hill at Soons Farms in New Hampton and Pennings Farm Cidery in Warwick.

Both Soons Farm and Pennings Farm have cideries on the property as well as U-Pick Farms. You and the family can enjoy a day of apple picking on the farm and quench your thirst at the end of the day with a crisp, hard cider of your choice. Does it get any better than that?

Paige introduced me to the Verde cider (Orchard Hill/Soons Farm) that comes in a vibrant green can. This cider is the epitome of fall ciders. One sip of Verde catapulted me into my most basic fall self.

Next up was another cider from Orchard Hill. Northern Spy from Orchard Hill is special because it is limited edition. Orchard Hill had only bottled a few of these sleek bottles. You'll be a Cider VIP if you can get your hands on one of these bottles at Boutique Wine, Spirits and Ciders. Northern Spy has a perfect mix of cider and fall spice that will be a fantastic cap to the perfect fall day.

We rounded out our tasting with The Continental Still Cider from Pennings Farm Cidery.  Another sleek looking bottle that is also special edition with only 900 or so bottles released. I had no idea you can have a still cider, which gave it a white wine feel with all the hard cider taste. Besides being a unique still cider, this cider also was only made from apples from one tree. Said tree has been on the Pennings Farm orchard for over 100 years. I can definitely see myself drinking this with a nice charcuterie board for the next wine night with my girlfriends.

Instead of giving your kids teachers an apple this year, why not give them a variety of hard ciders?
