The Walkway Over the Hudson just announced some big updates now that Spring is here. There will be more for guests to enjoy as they visit one of the biggest tourist attractions that Dutchess County and Ulster County have to offer. The Walkway will probably be a busy destination on April 8th given the total eclipse! Make sure you get your free solar eclipse glasses ahead of time!

Walkway Over the Hudson Seasonal Hours

Walkway Over the Hudson is open seven days a week, 365 days per year from sunrise to sunset (weather permitting). Occasionally, park hours or accessibility changes to accommodate special events. To confirm Walkway's hours in advance of your visit, call 845-834-2867.

From March 28th to April 21st, the Walkway's general hours will be 7am to 7:30pm. From April 22nd through May 22nd, the closing time will be extended to 8pm. Then, from May 23rd through July 31st, the Walkway Over the Hudson will have its latest closing time of the year, packing up at 8:30pm.

  • September 26th - October 14th: Open: 7:00 a.m. Close: 6:30 p.m.
  • October 15th - November 2nd: Open: 7:00 a.m. Close: 6:00 p.m.
  • November 3rd - December 31st: Open: 7:00 a.m. Close: 5:00 p.m.

Walkway Over The Hudson Announces The Reopening of Their Elevator & Pavilions

Walkway's elevator, electric tram, and merchandise pavilions will reopen for the season on Friday, April 5. The Walkway's 21-story glass enclosed elevator at Upper Landing Park in Poughkeepsie will resume operation and will be open daily from 9 am until 90 minutes before the park's closing time. The Elevator connects the Walkway to the Hudson River waterfront in Poughkeepsie. The elevator is attended by staff and the ride is approximately 90 seconds. If there is inclement weather, high winds or maintenance, the elevator may close for the day. You can confirm the status of the elevator before your visit by calling 845-834-3641.

According to the Walkway's website, the parking lot at 61 Parker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY, 12601 is currently closed. The site states, "Due to construction, the unpaved scenic Hudson lot on Parker Avenue is closed." Additional free parking can be found near the Poughkeepsie entrance to the Walkway is available in Pulaski Park (170 Washington Street) and along Brookside Avenue between Washington Street and Garden Street.

Despite the Parker Avenue lot's current closure, Walkway Over the Hudson is one of the most accessible destinations in America. Besides the Parker Avenue lot, the entrances at 87 Haviland Road (Highland) and the elevator entrance at Upper Landing Park (Poughkeepsie) are ADA-compliant. To assist seniors, veterans, people with mobility challenges, and those with a fear of heights, the Friends of the Walkway's all-electric 12-passenger, wheelchair accessible tram is in service during select hours.
