Recently, residents across both Ulster and Dutchess counties have shared their complaints and concerns over what appeared to be a 'serial' car break in and larceny suspect impacting the area.

This week, that suspect was arrested, but not for the first, second, or even tenth time, allegedly.

Lloyd Police Make Arrest of 54-Year-Old Homeless Man

The Town of Lloyd Police, in a press release shared that a 54-year-old man was arrested on April 29th in connection with several larcenies from motor vehicles across multiple counties. A number of local municipalities have reported receiving calls recently regarding car break-ins and stolen items. As a result, a joint investigation led by the New Paltz Police Department and Lloyd Police Department resulted in the successful identification and subsequent arrest of Tobi Tobin.

Tobin is said to be homeless.

He was charged with forth-degree criminal possession of stolen property at the time of his most recent arrest. It was reported that Tobin was in possession of a stolen mountain bike, as well as a stolen Samsung tablet.

Suspect Allegedly Arrested 19 Times Prior

News 10 reports that the Lloyd Police shared that Tobin is a suspect in more than a dozen reported local larcenies recently, and has allegedly been arrested nearly 20 times in the past.

Tobin is a suspect in over 15 larcenies from unlocked cars throughout Lloyd across the last few weeks. He has allegedly been arrested 19 times previously with five felony convictions, and is currently on parole for third-degree grand larceny, according to police.

Tobin was remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail following arraignment at the Town of Esopus Court.
