Let's just preface this with the fact that you cannot, in fact, please everyone. In my 40 years on this earth if there is one lesson i've learned, that might just be it.

It isn't just the heat that's rising these days in the Hudson Valley, tensions are also on the rise after the Hudson Valley's first heat wave arrived this week. As temperatures reach the 90's, some school districts are opting to make adjustments to the final days of the academic year, and it seems like the local moms are divided about it.

Heat Wave Hits Hudson Valley Classrooms

You know things are serious with the Hudson Valley's best international source for weather begins to share predictions. Ben Noll means business, and many of us have become accustomed to his predictions when it comes to weather.

Now, just as the severe heat that Ben Noll warned us about arrived in the Hudson Valley, lawmakers, teachers, and New York State residents alike are urging Governor Hochul to sign a bill into place regarding elevated classroom temperatures.

To summarize, the bill has established a maximum temperature threshold for school buildings and facilities, and defines anything above 82 degrees inside a classroom as 'extreme heat.' If extreme heat levels are reached, the bill would require 'action' which could include turning off classroom lights, turning on fans, and providing students with water breaks.

The bill also discusses conditions over 88 degrees as the point at which teachers and students must be removed from the classroom.

Hudson Valley Moms Divided Over Heat Wave School Decision Making

Simultaneously with the encouragement to move forward with the bill, local moms have voiced both praise and dismay for local school officials when it comes to the modifications they are making to combat the heat in these final days of the school year.

A simple question posed in the 'Bad Moms Hudson Valley' Facebook Group' (my absolute favorite resource for information and source of entertainment, by the way) sparked a heated (literally) discussion of more than 350 comments about iearly dismissal from school due to heat.

Now, I didn't want to start with the 'back in my day' nonsense, but I remember going to school in mid-late June as a kid and sweating my cojones off in the classroom, so a part of me feels like my own kid needs to endure the same, and the other part of me is team 'it is way too hot for her to go to school to watch a movie.' I stand divided.

Sifting through the hundreds of comments, it really does seem split between yay and nay from the Hudson Valley Bad Moms - where do you stand?
