New York Comedy Club to Open New Year’s Eve Honoring Late Comedian
The late Rodney Dangerfield was one of the greatest comedians of the 20th Century! He was a mainstay of late night talk shows through the 60s and 70s, later garnering himself an impressive film career with the likes of Caddyshack, Back to School, and more! Caddyshack is a particular favorite of mine. I think it really hones into the comedian's zaniness and flamboyant mannerisms. Of course, the man's main love was his stand-up comedy.
Rodney Dangerfield Gets Some Respect with New Comedy Club Opening New Year's Eve
Dangerfield's Comedy Club in New York City (located at 1118 First Ave, between 61st and 62nd Streets) is the going to be the best new/old comedy club out there! Dangerfield's Comedy Club had been a staple of the New York Comedy Scene for decades. Dangerfield opened the club alongside partner Anthony Bevaqua in 1969. The club has gone on to feature comedy legends such as George Carlin, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and much more. Dangerfield used the space to showcase new talent in a series of HBO Specials. After over 50 years of laughs, the club closed in 2020 due to Covid restrictions.
The new club, now owned by Mark Yosef, looks to continue to put a spotlight on great up-and-coming talent along with showcasing incredible veteran comedians. The club will be able to seat 200 guests and will be open Fridays and Saturdays.
Dangerfield's is set to reopen New Year's Eve! The Eventbrite listing says, "The oldest Comedy Club in the world is re-opening at the same legendary location, with a completely renovated and modern yet vintage look." The New Year's Eve Bash is set to start at 9:30pm on New Year's Eve, where there will be hors deuvres, an open bar, and of course, top notch stand-up comedy.
