Eastdale Village Is Throwing a Huge Italian Celebration

Eastdale Village in Poughkeepsie is going all out for a free full-day Ferragosto Celebration!

Free Italian Festival Event at Eastdale Village

Save the date for Saturday September 26th, 2026 as Eastdale Village in Poughkeepsie brings Italian traditions to life at the Palladino Piazza for their Ferragosto Celebration.

According to a press release, Eastdale Village will "transform its Italian-inspired Piazza into a lively festival filled with the sights and sounds of Italy."

Ferragosto is a celebration in Italy is a public holiday celebrated on August 15th. The celebration marks the peak of the summer season.

Of course there will be authentic Italian food on hand, plus live music, wine and beverage tastings, local artisans, family friendly activities and "special events celebrating Italian culture and traditions."

The event runs from 11 am until 8 pm and is free for the whole family.

What to Expect at Ferragosto at Eastdale Village

Eastdale Village on any given day is home to some of the most delicious Italian food around the Hudson Valley.

You can't go to Eastdale without a trip to Alimentari Rossi & Sons to grab one of their gigantic sandwiches. Or you could stop at Pizzeria Posto for a woodfired pizza.

I went to Posto recently and got the Posto Chicken Sandwich, it was out of this world. SO GOOD.

I digress.

With that being said, there will be an added Italian flare during Ferragosto.

There will be a live mozzarella-making demonstration as well as a competition between local chefs for the "Better Than Nonna's Sauce Competition."

The competition will be judged by some heavy hitters:

Italian Comedian Candace Guardino
Culinary Institute of America Professor Antonella Piemontese
Chef Angelo Balbo, chef and owner of Hurricane Grill & Wings in Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, and Luca Pizza in Newburgh
Chef Stacey Hawkins, chef, entrepreneur, television host.

Italian Culture to Bring the Eastdale Village Community Together

John Hettinger, the president of Kirchhoff (which is the real estate investment firm behind Eastdale), said in the statement that the Palladino Piazza "was designed to be a gathering place, somewhere people can come together; that's what makes Ferragosto a natural fit for Eastdale."

In the statement Hettinger continued:

“We created this community to bring people from across the Hudson Valley together, and Ferragosto is a wonderful example of that vision coming to life — gathering around great food, sharing in traditions and celebrating together.”
