Inmate Dies at Greene Correctional Facility

The facility is located in Coxsackie in Greene County.

According to News 10, the death of inmate Anthony Myrie is now under investigation by The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

According to officials, Myrie died following an incident involving several inmates at the correctional facility. Myrie was serving time at the facility on a 7-year sentence after he was convicted of Attempted Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance.

After the incident, Myrie's body was transported to the Albany County Medical Examiner's Office where an autopsy will take place sooner then later. Once the autopsy is completed, the office will release an official cause of death.

Officials said that their investigation into the incident is ongoing and will make more details public once the investigation is complete.

This story has gotten some national attention as once the death was made public, celebrity rapper Cardi B posted on social media about her own experiences with loved ones serving time at the Greene Correctional Facility. She wrote statements that accused corrections officers at the facility of beating people and mistreating inmates.

There has been no comment from the facility.
