IN Touch – 2019 Hudson Valley Community Walk for Breast Cancer
In Touch - Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation Director Pari Forood speaks with us about an annual event that was created in 2003 to bring awareness to the need for breast cancer support programs in our region. Miles of Hope based out of La Grangeville, NY covers 9 counties, Dutchess, Ulster, Orange, Rockland, Greene, Putnam, Westchester, Sullivan and Columbia.
On October 6th they invite everyone to be a part of the annual Hudson Valley Community Walk for Breast Cancer. Held annually since 2003 this walk will take place at James Baird State Park starting at 9 AM. This year's event honors Dr. Diana Silverman, a breast surgeon, breast cancer survivor and current patient. The moneys raised from this event go directly to funding support services and outreach to families right here in the Hudson Valley.
Miles of Hope is design to keep the money raised local. Funds raised help patients, families, friends, neighbors, and colleagues whose lives have been affected by breast cancer. The walk on October 6th is not only a fundraiser, it is also a gathering of survivors, family members and caregivers. Hundreds of people participate to walk in honor of, in memory of and in support of friends and loved ones.
You still have time to sign up and walk. Listen to the program in it's entirety with the link below.
