Hudson Valley Gives Raises Over $143,000 for 201 Nonprofits
Last week, we did what we could here at Townsquare Media of the Hudson Valley to bring attention to a cause that we thought was an incredibly worthy and important one: helping out the local nonprofits right here in our community by donating to Hudson Valley Gives, an initiative organized by Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, in collaboration with United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, and the Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
On May 18th, a website (hvgives.org) was the epicenter of giving in the Hudson Valley, a site where you could go donate to a cause of your choice and have that donation matched. Well, it was without question an absolutely massive success: according to the site, $143,811.00 was raised from 1,148 donors giving to 201 nonprofits here in the Hudson Valley.
Even better news? The giving continues. According to a press release:
Because of the excitement, event organizers will keep the giving open through midnight, Friday, May 27, when Memorial Day weekend kicks off. There is “something for everyone” to support, including animal shelters, arts groups, and ambulance corps; libraries, historical societies, and museums; farmland preservation; food pantries; human service organizations, health agencies, and hospitals; recreation and youth groups; scholarship funds, and veterans organizations, too.
Thanks for your support and thanks to everyone who was involved in putting this together. This is the sort of thing that helps a community grow and helps improve the lives of everyone here in our region.
