HV Farmers’ Markets Could Be Flooded by NYC Residents
As more and more farmers markets open up in the Hudson Valley there's a good chance we will see our southern neighbors buying Hudson Valley products on the weekend.
As the Mid-Hudson region hits phase 3 it's crazy to think that New York City has just entered phase 2. It seems like forever ago but do you remember the torture of being in phase 2? With one of America's largest cities still in phase 2 that means that there are over 8 million people looking for something to do on the weekends. Many of them may make the short drive to the Hudson Valley for a taste of the normal life.
This could be a great year for local farmers and crafters.
News 12 in Westchester recently shared a guide that contained many local farmers markets that have opened in Dutchess, Orange and Westchester County.
Could this attract residents from the city?
Hudson Valley residents love to complain when people from the city come up. I've never understood why. Yes, places and roadways get crowded and sometimes messy but we can't get distracted from something very important that's happening. They're spending money here.
It's been tough for small businesses here in the Hudson Valley but city money could make a big difference in the next few weeks before NYC fully starts to reopen.
