Back in March, we talked about the 2106 Congressional Art Competition. Every spring since 1982, the Congress of the United States has held this competition as a way for members of Congress to recognize and celebrate the artistic achievements of their younger constituents. Since that time, according to the U.S. House of Representatives, more than 650,000 students have participated.

The contest is open to high school students, whose work was judged by a panel of local artists. This year, more than 20 Hudson Valley students participated in the art competition, and their work is currently on display at Representative Sean Patrick Maloney's Newburgh Office.

This past Friday, Representative Maloney announced this year's winners.
