Joann to Close 24 New York Locations, Including Several Hudson Valley Stores

If you're a crafty person, this one is going to hurt a bit. Another popular store is closing up shop.

Joann Craft Store Files For Bankruptcy...Twice

Back in March of 2024, Joann (the fabric store, once called Joann Fabrics) announced they were filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

According to reports at the time a new agreement had Joann receiving $132 Million in new capital and related financial accommodations from financial and industry stakeholders.

At the time of filing, customers were told none of the 800 stores would close. However, now it looks like things have taken a turn.

USA Today is reporting that Joann had to file for bankruptcy again in January of 2025.

Popular Fabric and Craft Store Closing 500 Locations Across the US

In a statement to USA Today, Joann announced on Wednesday February 12th 2025 that  "approximately 500"  of their 850 locations will be closing. Adding "This was a very difficult decision to make, given the major impact we know it will have on our Team Members, our customers and all of the communities we serve."

As for which locations will be closing, Joann wrote in the statement:

"A careful analysis of store performance and future strategic fit for the Company determined which stores should remain operating as usual at this time."

Unfortunately, a handful of New York stores will be closing.

Which New York Joann Stores Will Be Closing Soon?

USA Today reports that New York is one of the states with the most Joann locations closing.

Sadly, 24 Joann stores will be closing for good in New York. And yes, there are a handful of Hudson Valley locations including the following:
