On a day when the Hudson Valley saw record breaking temperatures, two local golf courses announced they are opening up almost a month earlier than normal.

Stony Ford Golf Course in Montgomery and Hickory Hill Golf Course in Warwick announced they will open for the 2016 golf season on March 18, conditions and weather permitting. According to the Orange County Executive’s office, the golf courses are opening 3-4 weeks earlier than normal due to the mild winter.

Both courses will begin the season with cart path restriction until the courses have dried out. Tee times will be available Friday through Sunday for the first two weeks of the season.

It is advised to call the golf courses prior to arriving, for tee times and to make sure the courses are open due to weather.

Automated tee times will be available beginning April 1 at golf.orangecountygov.com.
