Hudson Valley Facebook User Finds Loaded Gun Sitting on Trash Can

A Hudson Valley man couldn't believe his eyes when he spotted a gun sitting right out in the open on a local trash can.

Ali T. Muhammad says he found the gun while walking to work on Main Street in Beacon.on Friday. Muhammad posted video of his find on Facebook after calling authorities..

After looking down and seeing the pistol Muhammad says he immediately called the mayor who instructed him to call police.

I called our Mayor who promptly told me to call our police department who responded quickly. They handled the situation accordingly and I want to thank the officers for their service.

Muhammad commented on how he felt lucky that he was the one to find the gun instead of a child or someone else who might use the weapon to cause harm.

We reached out to the City of Beacon police and were told that only the chief of police could comment, but he was busy in meetings all day. We'll keep you updated if we learn more about the incident.
