Hudson Valley Actor Wins His First Golden Globe Award

Big win for this Hudson Valley actor. Tyler James Williams won the award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series/Musical-Comedy for Abbott Elementary. This was Williams' first nomination and first win. Williams' fellow contenders were John Lithgow in The Old Man, Jonathan Pryce in The Crown, John Turturro in Severance, and Henry Winkler in Barry. Williams managed to beat out all these well-established veteran actors. But don't let his age fool you, the 30-year-old actor has been acting for since he was 4-years-old.

For those who may not be aware, Williams' is from the Hudson Valley. The star was born in Westchester County, New York, and grew up in Yonkers. His mother, Angela Williams is a counselor, and his father, Le'Roy Williams, is a teacher and retired police sergeant.

Before his Abbott Elementary fame, he started acting at 4 years old. He greatly impacted your childhood, and probably didn't even realize it. He starred in Little Bill on Nick Jr. voicing Bobby, and he even played himself on Sesame Street from 2000 to 2005. It was 2005 that saw him take on the role of a young Chris Rock in what is probably his most famous role to date on the show Everybody Hates Chris. His performance won him a Young Artist Award in 2007. Since then, he has been seen on shows and movies such as Nickelodeon's True Jackson, VP, Disney's Let It Shine, AMC's Walking Dead, and CBS's Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.

Williams currently stars on the ABC Mockumentary Abbott Elementary, which has seen much acclaim. The show itself is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 98% Tomatometer and 89% Audience Score, and has been nominated and won a variety of awards, including winning Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Now, Williams has claimed another win for the show, and one for himself.
