At first I really didn't think that much about it but it seems to happen more and more lately and I'll be honest, it annoys me.

Everyday it happens, especially on the Mid Hudson Bridge.

The merge lane.  How exactly do you merge?

  • If you are in the left lane or the right lane and your lane is going to end, you don't get to wait until your lane ends and expect every car to let you over.  Chances are, you had enough time to get over at some point prior.
  • Just because your lane ends doesn't mean the car in the other lane is obligated to let you over
  • If you see that the lane ahead of you is closed, get over first chance.  Don't wait until the last minute
  • Don't tailgate the person trying to merge early because you need to get 2 more cars further.

OK.  That's about it.

I just don't understand why it's so hard to comprehend.

I was in PA over the weekend and there was nothing coming in either lane but the car got over in the right lane, where the sign was saying it was closed, then beeped at me for not letting them over in front of me.

I'm off of my horse now.  Safe driving.
