How to Become a Member of the New York State Park Police
You know how people say that some things combine the best of both worlds? If you or someone you know has always wanted to be a policeman but also wants to work outdoors, then becoming a member of the New York State Park Police really is the best of both worlds.
You can have the exciting law enforcement career while doing your job in some of the most beautiful places in New York. Starting salary for a trainee is a little over $55,000 and after a year your title will change as will the pay. How much your pay goes up depends on which parts of New York you work.
Some of the requirements state that you must be at least 20 years of age, have a minimum of 60 college credit hours-although if you are a veteran that number changes, be able to pass a physical, and have a valid New York Driver's License.
The civil service test for Park Police Trainee will be held on September 15 and the deadline to apply is August 1. That will be here before you know it. For all of the requirements, forms, and information, visit parks.ny.gov.
