Why Is Skelly The Skeleton So Popular?

Yes, Skelly the Skeleton will be returning in 2025 to Home Depot stores. But why is the 12 foot skeleton so popular?

According to CNN, Skelly made its debut in 2020 right in the thick of the COVID-19 Pandemic. A few years ago CNN spoke to Home Depot's Senior Merchant of Holiday Décor, Lance Allen, who told them they brought Skelly to the market "at the perfect time" adding “It was during the first year of the pandemic, when everybody just needed to smile.”

Allen adds that the Home Depot decoration team goes out into the market to "find inspiration, and see what we can do differently.” They found that customers were into "items that are larger than life." And they really leaned into it.

After Skelly, they introduced a pumpkin skeleton in 2021 and a 12-foot-tall levitating witch as well.
