Have You Signed Your Kids Up For Summer Camp Yet?
While I know that the first month of the new year isn’t even over yet, it’s time to think about summer camps. Registration for camps fill up quickly, so if you want to be able to have your choice of camps, now’s the time and if you want your kids to put the digital devices down and get outside, why not think about the DEC Summer Camp Program.
In its 71st year, this program has introduced kids to fishing, camping, hiking, archery, hunter safety, swimming, and so much more during the weekly camps held each summer throughout the state. Four camps offer weekly residential summer camps for children ages 11 through 17, and there are six and two-week camps offered for those 14 through 17.
They're pretty affordable when you compare the cost to other camps and many local organizations such as hunting and fishing clubs, gardening clubs, and other organizations help sponsor children to give them the experience of summer camp. Registration opened January 24, and registrations are filling up.
Now’s the time to think about backpacking, canoeing, camping and more for your children this summer. Happy Camping!
