Festive Competition Returns To Mohonk Mountain House

Before you know it the holiday season will be here and Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, New York is ready to host the most delicious and creative competition.

Mohonk Mountain House Host Gingerbread Competition

The 9th annual Hudson Valley Gingerbread Competition is accepting submissions for their 2024 event. Each year Gingerbread creators build everything from classic gingerbread houses to cottages, steamships and robots for their chance at a handful of fabulous prizes.

Submissions will be accepted now until November 8th, 2024. The Hudson Valley Gingerbread Competition will then conclude on Sunday December 8th, 2024. With that being said the Gingerbread submissions will be on display from December 8th until January 1st, 2025.

What to Expect at the Hudson Valley Gingerbread Competition

The Hudson Valley Gingerbread Competition is open to all from kids to adults. If you're part of a Gingerbread building team, you can also enter the competition with a team entry form.

Prizes range from a stay at Mohonk Mountain House for two, $1,000 Mohonk Gift Card, Chef’s Table experience, hiking passes and and more.

Like most competitions there are rules to follow in the creation process.

According to the rules, each Gingerbread House will be rated on the following:

A) Overall Appearance, B) Originality & Creativity, C) Difficulty, D) Precision, and E) Consistency of Theme.

The rules go on to add that there's no required theme for the competition and they encourage Gingerbread builders to "use their creativity when designing and constructing their entry, as long as it adheres to the competition rules, procedures, and judging criteria."
